    Easy Summer Refreshing Watermelon Limeade

    June 26, 2020

    Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

It’s officially summer and nothing is better than a cool and refreshing drink. When I think of summer, I immediately think of one of my favorite’s, watermelon. It has just the right amount of sweetness and is a healthy and delicious treat! Our Watermelon Limeade requires less than 5 ingredients and is ready to go in minutes!

    Buying Guide for Watermelons

Watermelon is considered a low risk fruit when it comes to pesticides. For this reason, I wouldn’t worry about buying watermelon organic.

When picking out the perfect watermelon first make sure the watermelon feels heavy for its size. Look for a yellow or white ground spot on its underside. Next, give the watermelon a good tap. You should hear a hollow sound, meaning the watermelon is ripe and ready to eat!

    Benefits of Watermelon

    • Help reduce blood sugar and high blood pressure
    • Rich in antioxidants: cancer fighting and immune boosting
    • Can help cleanse your kidneys
    • Alkalizing
    • Helps muscle and nerve function
    • Natural mood booster, increases energy

Aside from watermelon, our recipe also calls for lime juice. I highly recommend fresh squeezed juice as it is more flavorful. However, already squeezed lime juice will also work just fine.

We also use a little simple syrup. It is incredibly easy to make this at home, the recipe can be found in our Sparkling Loquat Rum Cocktail post. You can also use store bought syrup, raw sugar, agave or omit the sugar all together. If you’re watermelon is very sweet you may not even really need it!

    Tools Needed

Grab your blender for this recipe. If you are on the market for an AMAZING blender, I highly recommend the Blendtec Blender. It is super easy to use, is BPA free, made in the USA and will blend practically anything with ease.

Another handy tool is a juicer. Both of these below are great options:

Manual Lemon Lime Squeezer – $17.95
    Citrus Juicer – $18.95
